1600 gearbox

im looking for a second hand or re-furbished gearbox for the 1.6 sporting 1996

box is goosed

cheers blink iv tried almost all the breakers no luck.

and iv regestered with a couple of internet spares finders no luck there eather.

Tried Overton spares in Aberdeen (dyce), the usually have quite a few parts, bit of a trek but worth a try

the gear racio is different from other boxes

I know but they fit. Doesnt make that much difference either.

no luck from them.

i have managed to locate a box from down south
second hand but its been fully checked
6 months warranty on it
37k
and only £206

garage cant do the job for 3 to 4 weeks so i will have to wait.

not to worry driving about in the wifes HGT cant complain.

he told me that they dont have the gearbox for the elx
and he could not help me and that was that.

but i got some info from kilmarnock breakers that each gear box has a letter stamped on the bellhousing and all you have to do is match the letter to the replacement box
the letter on my box is (E)
hopefully this will help people in the future.

ah well, it had the engine still. that's all i looked at, didn't have time to poke about it. the old boy in there's such a c*nt, he always looks at me as if to say i know you're pockets are full lol. not that i'd ever do that of course lol
