The Formula 1 entourage has descended on Singapore for the only night race of the F1 calendar. The circuit is through the streets of Marina Bay, Singapore. The track is around the city streets and as this image courteous of Jake Humphrey twitter shows, they have been busy making the odd repair during the practise sessions,

    Some on track action,

Race coverage on the BBC, 1210-1530 BBC One/Radio 5 live and online; F1 forum: 1530-1630, BBC Red Button/online; Highlights: 1900-2000 BBC Three

Today's qualifying didn't bring too much unexpected news, Scotsman Paul DiResta managed to get through to the final 10 qualifiying shoot out, but like M Schumacher and A Sutil, decided to save tyres for the race rather than try and improve upon there initial qualifying position.

There was a slight tussle for the mid 10 positions, S Vettel laid down the gauntlet on his first flying lap, initially 1sec ahead of everyone, team mate M Webber managed to get within 0.5sec with the other teams trailing with over 0.5sec difference. The grid line up is,

    1 S Vettel - Red Bull
    2 M Webber - Red Bull
    3 J Button - McLaren
    4 L Hamilton - McLaren
    5 F Alonso - Ferrari
    6 F Massa - Ferrari
    7 N Rosberg - Mercedes
    8 M Schumacher - Mercedes
    9 A Sutil - Force India
    10 P DiResta - Force India

I believe Seb Vettel could wrap up the drivers championship if he wins and dependant on the other drivers results, so although that feels like a given thing. i could be a interesting race for the second place in the championship which could go right to the end of the season. Looking forward to a good race with plenty of action as the drivers try not to hit a wall or each other.

Looking forward to it, just watching the quali the now. I do hope Vettel doesn't wrap up the championship this weekend and some of the times in practice have supported a challenge is being mounted by the others. I guess though they're miles behind and it's inevitably going to happen at some time. This race though, it's normally pretty entertaining. Safety cars a plenty and rumours of rain could mix it up more, still hate that idiotic chicane, pic of it being built included by yourself. Just so awkward seeing the cars bounce over it. Anyway though, should hopefully be a good race

I think that's the chicane which when the cars clipped it you could literally see the tyre being shredded and chunks flying off

They explained why they put it in last year in terms of slowing the cars for the next corner as they worried about the entry speed without the chicane. The race was okay. Nothing special really, especially with Mr Default winning it and Lewis yet again putting his front wing where it shouldn't have been :/

great drive by paul di resta

      Hamilton needs a slap

so does alonso, not for anything he did at the race, just for being fernando alonso.

I think Massa needs more of a slap for being a moody SOB. Honestly, Lewis got a penalty and still managed to breeze past him and get in the top 5. Massa's days at Ferrari are numbered, the only reason he's there is due to being the definition of a number 2 driver. Pretty sure though Fernando doesn't like a team mate to challenge him all that much *ahem*Lewis*cough* Paul Di Resta did have a good drive but much in the way I thought of DC when he was racing, he's not the most exciting in interviews. I'd certainly try and smile more if I were talking to Lee McKenzie

These cars are sure beautiful! It's enough to convince me to get car loans so I'd have one of these beauties parked in front of my house. It sure will be eye-catching.

      really?

can you advise me what company will supply a car loan big enough to buy a formula 1 car and the various team needed to run it? and it's own security team...because im sure it wouldn't last very long parked outside my house.

i asked at my local bank for a loan for one of these beauties but they laughed me out the branch
