Up for sale here I have an RS1800 engine out a Fiesta. I had pretty big plans for it, first of all was to build it back up to a certain spec then either drop it into a Caterham or something old, light, cheap and RWD (perhaps a Chevette). However as most of you know I have a Mini which has sprung quite a severe oil leak so back to the drawing board goes the Mini, and I'm going to be doing a lot of work to the engine this time (at least that's the plan just now). I don't have the time, nor the space to finish off two engine's so I'm afraid this one has to go. The only thing this engine is missing is the sump but you can pick these up in any scrappies.

So, whats included in the sale?

Main Engine Components:
- RS1800 Block (Bores in great condition, no scratching) + Head (& rocker cover) + Cam's + Piston's + Crank + ECU
- Original Ford Airbox
- Exhaust Manifold
- Inlet Manifold (Complete EFI inlet setup)
- Clutch & Flywheel
- Original Ford Fiesta RS1800 5 speed Gearbox.
- Ignition Module

Brand New Parts Included In Sale:
- Full set of BGA 1800cc Ford Head Studs
- There is a brand new gasket for nearly everything on the engine - including all the major parts (Cylinder Head Gasket, Rocker Cover Gasket, Inlet & Exhaust Manifold Gaskets, Various Others..)
- Brand New Piston Rings
- Valve Assembly Parts
- Some other small bits and pieces needed to complete the engine build

So, you might be thinking "I want this engine, but what could I do with it?", well I will give you a few options I looked into.

First Option - Stock Build:
Build back up in stock format, this is perfectly doable and everything bar a wiring loom and some sensors is there to do this. It wasn't what I was going to do however.

Second Option - Twin 40/45 Webers (Or similar):
This was my initial idea, of course it looks and sounds awesome. But when reading into a lot of people's experiences with this setup, it appeared that unless you are willing to put a lot of time into setting them up properly and you don't mind low MPG figures, it wasn't worth it. Everything to do this is available fairly cheap, EXCEPT the electronic/programmable ignition. The only other option is 1.4 and 1.6 CVH engines running on a single carburetor and featuring a coil pack (rather than distributor and coil) ran with a 'black box' (actually silver). This connects to the coil pack, crank position sensor and a couple of temperature sensors and provides an acceptable 2 dimensional ignition map for running the Zetec. Third Option - Bike Carbs:
Now this was my plan. There are some fairly documented methods on doing this, but I found a great guide/diary of someone who had done exactly what I wanted to do. They detailed everything needed, and everything they did to get the engine running exactly right. The benefit of bike carbs is that you gain some power, but also the drivabilty is much greater than using Webers. Also the MPG isn't too harsh. You could use this engine in lots of different cars. They are very commonly used in hillclimb cars, such as Caterhams or Locost's. Also would be great in any RWD car if the correct sump was used.

So I hope that's helped a little bit for anyone interested in buying the engine. I can provide some more links to stuff or more information if required.
